George Cordaro Field - Home of the Maroons!
Packed house during the 2007 sub-state final vs. Urbandale.
This new scoreboard was added in 2006. The new scoreboard proudly bears the name
of George Cordero, whom the field is named after. Cordero was a longtime coach and
athletic director at Dowling Catholic.
Tribute to Dowling Catholic legendary coach
Don Mauro. Mauro’s #18 was retired in 2003.
Mauro coached at Dowling from 1969 to 1991.
The press box was added in 1998. The 2 story, air
conditioned press box features spacious room for
concessions, PA announcers, scoreboard, radio and
media as well as storage and coaches lockers.
This brick monument wall was completed in 2005
and serves as an important fund raiser for the
Dowling Catholic Baseball Program. Over 150
bricks have been sold to date. Please see the
attached information if you are interested in
purchasing a brick. Cost is $125.00. This is a
great way to be a permanent part of the rich and
storied Dowling Baseball tradition!!
With the help of many volunteers, much needed restroom
facilities were built in 2004. This project was a joint effort
between the baseball and softball programs. The DCHS Art
Club designed and painted murals with baseball and softball
themes on the interior walls.
The bridge welcomes visitors to
Dowling's baseball facilities at the
south end of the Dowling HS campus.
